Here I am

My niche is so small
If only I turn my head
I fall out of it

I'm old. I started learning to play the oboe in 1978. I explored music ever since.
I'm old. I started learning to write computer programs in 1981. I explored computers ever since.

Strangely enough, I have never written any computer code to create music before 2025, when I decided I should. This is where I am, now. I have started to write code to connect and control several digital components. I have a Mac and I have the internet. I will look into open source as well as proprietary tools and components. I will look into MIDI, sound creation, pattern generation. I will look into Python and Rust.

I aim to share code I develop for my particular situation. A niche so small, I might well be the only occupant.

I listened to music all my life. As an amateur I played classical music for over 45 years. As a software engineer I wrote computer code for over 30 years professionally. But before 2025 I have never tried to create something in a DAW, never tried programming a synthesizer, use a mixing console, PA or any form of effects. To be honest, they looked incomprehensible to me -- and still do -- both from a musician's and a programmer's point of view.

So that is the niche.

So small.
